Fried & Company is a contingency energy efficiency recruitment firm. We partner with consulting firms, software and hardware providers, non-profits, energy services firms, and utilities nationwide to find and place energy efficiency professionals in positions ranging from Manager to C-level.

Through constant networking and industry intelligence in the energy efficiency sector, we know who the "superstars" are in the industry.  We only represent top energy efficiency talent and we do not advertise on job boards. As the most successful candidates are usually  employed, 98 percent of our candidates are actively recruited from their current positions in the energy efficiency sector.

As a boutique energy efficiency recruitment firm, we take on a limited number of searches at any given time so that we may carefully hand-pick and recruit top-performing candidates for every search. As such, we fill 90 percent of the searches we accept. Every candidate we submit to you has been thoroughly vetted and has been briefed on your company, the job opportunity and the salary parameters.

We work on contingency and we encourage you to continue to recruit through your own methods as much as you like. We pride ourselves on presenting quality passive candidates whom you may not be able to find through your own networks or via traditional recruitment activities. We know that recruitment fees can add up, and we feel good about earning our fee on every search we undertake.

Our Process

Needs Assessment

We begin by getting to know you and your energy efficiency organization: its leadership, hiring manager and team, business strategies, operating style, culture, mission and values.

We discuss the history of the role and the qualities and skills required to succeed.

Through this knowledge transfer we are ready to go to market representing the opportunity, actively recruit the best prospects in the energy efficiency industry, and provide the best end results possible.

Position Profile

Based on our structured discussions with decision makers and hiring managers, we refine the position description you provide to us. A clear position profile ensures clear understanding of the requirements and functions as a marketing tool to attract qualified energy efficiency professionals.

Candidate Research and Sourcing

Our search strategy is guided by careful analysis of the company, niche within the energy efficiency industry, competitors and marketplace.

Using this input, we implement a comprehensive approach to pursue top talent, leveraging our proprietary database of more than 100,000 active energy efficiency and utility professionals, networking, referrals, social media, events, and other research tools. We do not post to job boards.

Ninety-eight percent of the energy efficiency candidates we submit are passive candidates—those who are currently well-employed and excelling in their work.

 Candidate Evaluation

Once our recruiters identify energy efficiency professionals whom we think will excel in the role, we perform an in-depth interview with each of them by phone (or in person, if they are based in the Denver metro area). We review and evaluate candidates’ professional experience, expertise, achievements, management style, educational background, leadership competencies, presentation and communication abilities, fit and potential, and compensation expectations.

The evaluation process culminates with a final candidate pool consisting of the top ten percent of qualified candidates. It is only these candidates with whom we share specifics about the company and the role, and whom we submit to the client.

Candidate Presentation

We present select candidates to your hiring team including resume, career highlights, availability for relocation if necessary, and compensation expectations.

Your team selects the candidates with whom to move forward to the interview process. Given Fried & Company's extensive candidate vetting process, it is highly unusual for an energy efficiency candidate whom we have recruited not to make it to the first interview.

Interviews

We participate as facilitators throughout the interview process, helping to schedule interviews and arrange meetings. We debrief with candidates and clients after each interview.

Reference Checks

Upon client request, we ask the candidate for four professional references, including past supervisors, peers and direct reports. Depending on our client’s preference, either the client or Fried & Company conducts in-depth reference checks and provide a comprehensive summary to your hiring team.

Negotiation

Once your team has selected the candidate you wish to hire, we serve as a helpful intermediary to line up both parties’ expectations and come to a mutually beneficial agreement.
